Inspiring Unity in Community

Commissioned as part of Chicago’s COVID-19 #VaxChiNation campaign in partnership with the Design Museum of Chicago, this typographic poster reframed community immunity as a collective system—where individual participation accumulates into shared protection, unity, and care.

STRATEGY

Reframe vaccination as a shared civic act rather than an individual decision, using design to visualize the idea of collective protection. The work aimed to build trust, foster a sense of unity, and communicate that community health emerges from interconnected action.

APPROACH

The poster translates the concept of community immunity into a visual system built from repetition, structure, and shared language. The word community radiates outward in concentric rings, forming a unified field that reinforces the idea that protection is cumulative—built person by person, action by action.

OUTCOMES

  • Publicly deployed across Chicago as part of the City’s COVID-19 vaccination initiative

  • Supported citywide efforts to increase vaccine awareness, access, and public trust

  • Demonstrated design’s role in translating public health goals into accessible civic messaging

  • Helped frame vaccination as a shared, community-centered responsibility
